What is new in iTunes 12.7: No More Built-in App Store & Ringtone Section
On September 12, 2017, Apple released iTunes 12.7 update for both Windows and Mac, and shocked up once again as iTunes was totally re-designed with built-in App Store and ringtone management revamped. Like updating old iTunes versions as before, you can upgrade to iTunes 12.7 from the Mac App Store through the Software Update mechanism on Mac or run Apple Software Update on Windows. iTunes 12.7 for Mac/Windows
The new iTunes focuses on music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks. It adds support for syncing iOS 11 devices and includes new features for –
- Apple Music. Now discover music with friends. Members can create profiles and follow each other to see music they are listening to and any playlists they've shared.
- Podcasts. iTunes U collections are now part of the Apple Podcasts family. Search and explore free educational content produced by leading schools, universities, museums, and cultural institutions all in one place.
If you previously used iTunes to sync apps or ringtones to your iOS device, use the new App Store or Sounds Settings on iOS to re-download them without your Mac/Windows.
Pop Up Message of iTunes 12.7
After updating to iTunes 12.7, if you launch it, you will need to click Agree button to open it, and a dialog will pop up to show you a message "iTunes has been updated to focus on music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks" as below.
Now, the App Store and Ringtone section have been entirely eliminated in iTunes 12.7, internet radio is part of Music, and iTunes U has been folded into Podcasts. Sooner or later, you will get used to the change.
